Creativity is a plug in a world full of sockets.

I graduated from the University of Virginia in 1995, and since then, my career has been rooted in three fundamental elements: design, creativity and curiosity.

Because I can’t seem to get comfortable in one specific industry, I’ve founded businesses across a variety of categories: fashion, advertising, launching start-ups and place-making. Throughout my career “branding” has been the unifying thread. The earliest part of my career was at Polo Ralph Lauren where I was exposed to the concept of lifestyle branding from the very best. Later, as a copywriter at McCann Erickson in New York, I was lucky enough to be trained in both the art and strategy of "truth well told" and created campaigns for top 50 brands. In 2000, I jumped coasts and co-founded my first ad agency in Southern California where we launched venture-backed start-ups, helping visionary entrepreneurs create brands from scratch. Today, with my co-founder, our firm specializes in large-scale place-based brands.

During my career, across a spectrum of brands, I’ve experienced the shift from the way it was – print ads and radio spots, to the way it is – viral marketing and personal brands, but the one constant is that the story must be great, regardless of the way its told.

I’ve had the great fortune to guest lecture in the university systems of California, Kansas and Missouri in both undergraduate and graduate level courses, taught branding classes to business executives at leading companies, and feel honored when asked to present my thoughts to peers at conferences and speaking engagements.

On this journey, there's always something new to explore, new concepts to test, and ideas to be discovered. And then there's golf.

Let’s go, together.

WHERE I ESCAPE

Golf. Food. Art. Walking a random city with my wife and kids. Jazz. Golf.

WHAT I CREATE

Words. Designs. Ideas. Photos.
